Welcome to one of the most beautiful treasures of Cochise County. Beginning with the historic Brown Canyon Ranch, this hike continues up Brown Canyon through the foothills of the Huachuca Mountains and over the ridge and down into the narrow gorge of Ramsey Canyon. Despite its proximity to a bustling community, this is an area of tranquility in which one can commune with and marvel at the beauty of nature every hour or every day. The hike is approximately 8.4 miles in length with an elevation gain of 1,784 feet. The tour includes transportation to and from the trailhead. The total expected time is 8 hours. Each hike will be outfitted with a day pack, 2 liters of water and trail snacks along with a hiking pole. Use your own judgment when it comes to clothes, It can be a little chilly down in the canyon. Good hiking shoes / boots and gloves are recommended. The trail is well maintained by the forest service but there are a few places with loose rock. Due to the varied terrain and, also, because of the beauty of the site, the average pace is approximately 2 miles per hour. This hike meets at the Grassy Park in front of the Bisbee Mining and Historical Museum, 5 Copper Queen Plaza Bisbee at 7:00 a.m. and lasts about 8 hours including transportation time. Please arrive 10-15 minutes early.
